For cyclists – a new guide will be published for 2017 on the 36 cycle routes through the department – in French-English and also in April the new guide on cycling the ViaRhôna route through the Drôme and Ardèche. By the way, the Tour de France Stage 16 will be passing through the department on 18th July 2017.
New Château of Grignan exhibition – The first exhibition dedicated to the Marchioness of Sévigné will take place in the Château of Grignan – 25th May – 22nd October 2017. The Château is the largest castle in south-east France and is renowned for the historical connection to this famous French lady of letters. The highly popular Nocturnal Festivals will also be taking place this summer in the courtyard in the Château in July and August.
By water, by road, by luge: A new nautical centre will be opening with every water based activity you could imagine from stand up paddle to water skiing, wakeboard, kneeboard or a Big Air bag or simple canoe.

Back to being active, there is a luge for all seasons that has opened in Col de Rousset with a descent of 760m, if you dare.
New Michelin Star is born: The chef Cyril Fressac has been awarded one star in the Michelin Guide for the first time in February 2017 for the Hotel-Restaurant Le Domaine du Colombier. His success story started a few years ago when the cuisine of Cyril and his former partner was awarded in the Gault & Millau guide and in the Champérard Guide. The restaurant is set in a 14th century country house where Chef Fressac seeks to propel regional produce, such as asparagus and black truffle, into the spotlight. His exquisite menus are a delight to look at and to taste, especially his desserts. As a grandson of a wine-maker, he offers a fine selection of wines. This is one of the most remarkable restaurants in the Drôme!
There’s also a new app available in English to encourage Slow Tourism as it takes you around the gastronomic highways and byways of the department: Drôme Saveurs.
For chocoholics only: It has to be said that the centre of gourmet chocolate making is at the heart of the Drôme in Tain-l’Hermitage – Valrhona Chocolate. Called appropriately La Cité du Chocolat, visitors can view the chocolate being created via live direct feeds whilst taking a tour and nibbling at the copious samples available. New this year is their restaurant Le Comptoir Porcelana where diners can enjoy a 100% chocolate experience.
